Statement of Works: Provide professional services for the Project delivery of VPN/APN solutions project, DFU internet / network file sharing, Collaborative partner network connectivity and ACI Datacentre network development.
Contractor Role: Technical or Voice & Network Project Manager
Location: Bridgend, Information & Communications Technology – Location flexible, dependent on the tasks being performed
Lead SWP staff: Portfolio Manager
Main Purpose: -
To manage ICT Projects as allocated, in line with approved project management methodologies. Has successfully managed projects for large and intricate enterprise clients, as well as within the Communications sector.
The Contractor shall: -
- Provide specialist advice and guidance on complex issues related to area of work. Receive and respond to enquiries from stakeholders, including complex and escalated queries. Analyse and present management information to senior managers. Act as a recognised source expertise within own area. Generate original ideas and innovative solutions through the provision of expert knowledge and advice.
- Author/develop Project Plans/Documentation sets in accordance with Project Board and Stakeholder requirements, organise and manage the day-to-day delivery of projects including planning and deployment of resources and reporting.
- Identify risks and mitigate risks and inform others on risks, understand associated guidelines and legislation to mitigate risks. Manage risk management schedules to ensure SWP meets its obligation concerning Health & Safety and escalate serious problems. Monitor and ensure compliance with all regulations and policy guidelines.
- Be positive about change, adapting to circumstances and encouraging flexibility in others. Identifies and implements improvements to project delivery, engaging people in the change process and encouraging them to contribute ideas. Finds more cost-effective ways to do things, taking an innovative approach to solving problems and considers radical alternatives. - Provide appropriate support and education to Force Projects and Stakeholders.
- Attend technical briefings / seminars in and out of force when applicable.
- Produce / maintain up to date Project documentation with associated tasks and instruction guides for the designated Project technical leads.
- Be flexible in working hours to meet the demands of the work. Up to a maximum of 37.5 paid hours each week may be charged via invoice.
- Ensure the work meets quality standards in relation to internal and external clients of the SWP ICT department.
- Provide your own transport to move between sites if required. No travel or subsistence charges will be paid.

- Ensure that South Wales Police policies are adhered to, including Information Security, Data Protection, Health and Safety, No Smoking.
- Ensure that any issues which may affect your ongoing vetting are flagged to the Head of ICT or their representative.
- Project end date – Current forecasts suggest 31st March 2025.

- Project Delivery: Cisco Meraki, LAN, WAN, ACI Deployments/Migrations, Core Infrastructure, IP Telephony, Voice, Network & IT Infrastructure
- Prince 2 Practitioner Certification
- RAID Logs
- Essential • Must be educated to degree level or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities. • A formal project management qualification and experience of managing a major project Desirable • A registered Prince2 Practitioner • IOSH or NEBOSH qualified or suitable experience • Possession of a formal qualification in or a least a good working knowledge of current ITIL processes.
- Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications. • Familiarity with Prince2 project management methodology.
- Experience of managing a major project. • Experience in managing project staff and profiling financial budgets. • Demonstrate an awareness of current Health and Safety legislation and practices.
