The Challenge: We were tasked with sourcing a tri-lingual (Danish and German and English) SAP Project Manager for a leading Global consultancy who had a sensitive project with a banking sector client. The issue surrounding this request was that there had been a Project Manager allocated to the client and things had not run properly. The client approached us explaining that they did not have the resources available on their bench and they needed a strong client facing Project Manager who could ‘fire-fight’ a problem project. Deep experience of the banking sector was needed, plus experience in successfully turning around problem projects.The Solution: As this was flagged as a sensitive request by the client, we asked for them to set aside a conference call with the Resource Manager and Program Manager so that we could listen to the history of the project, understand why things had gone wrong and provide a proper fix. This request did take a little longer than normal, but the client was happy that we were able to take some more time upfront to ensure a deep referencing process. We conducted internal telephone and subsequent video conference interviews before taking multi-level references on two suitable candidates and in the end only submitted one candidate for the role. The client was very happy with the solution and we are now a preferred supplier for all their SAP contract requests.
