Role Overview
The Product Assurance (PA) Team are looking for an enthusiastic Test Engineer to join our ISO 9001:2015 Accredited Team to Validate a suite of electrical Marine products, ultimately ensuring SRT’s products are ‘Ready to go to Market’.
The PA Test Engineer will plan and deliver Manual ‘Black-Box’ Validation covering a mix of Systems Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) ensuring our products adhere to Certification Standards. In addition to validating the project requirements are met, the Test Engineer will focus on how the product can and should be ‘Used’ (the Customer Experience), rather than how the individual components of the product work.
The PA Test Engineer will work closely with the Project Team to understand the requirements, timelines and RAID items, then conduct analysis determining the test conditions and acceptance criteria. You will then produce suitable Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Schedules, set-up the Test Environment, execute the tests, raise and retest defects, report on test progress, produce End of Test Reports and provide recommendations for improvements.
The candidate requires high attention to detail, a methodical problem-solving mindset, with proven hands-on experience testing electrical products. They will have experience planning, prioritising and managing their workload, with the expertise to identify the work required and the most appropriate way to deliver it. They will have excellent written & verbal communication skills, being able to clearly articulate their plans, progress, issues and report their results.
Responsibilities
· Analyse and Static Test project requirements, specifications & supporting materials.
· Proactively identify test conditions and acceptance criteria to Validate ‘How to use’ the product, maintaining focus on the User Experience.
· Identify & plan how to test the products connected to additional Marine products using VHF, NMEA0183, NMEA2000, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc.
· Identify and deliver pre-compliance testing for all relevant Certification Standards before the products are sent to Test Houses.
· Produce and present Test Plans, Test Scenarios, Test Cases, Test Schedules and Test Reports.
· Set-up test environments with required connectivity and use various tools and tracking software to Validate the results.
· Record and evaluate test results, raising bugs for failed tests and provide feedback to the Development teams.
· Help manage the bug process, retest defect fixes and evaluate the results.
· Actively support Root Cause Analysis and Resolution of issues.
· Define and deliver suitable Regression test suites.
· Report test progress, defects raised/retested, product quality and potential improvements to the product’s design/behaviour.
· Liaise with 3rd party companies and Test Houses for external testing, monitoring their test scope, progress and progress reporting.
· Ensure our products and procedures meet industry standards (e.g. ISO9001:2015).
· Identify and communicate Risks, Issues and Dependencies, following them to resolution.
· Proactively collaborate to improve the processes & procedures for the Product Assurance Team.
Skills
