NordBalt and LitPol HVDC electrical transmission links.
Due to our excellent understanding and experience within the transmission and distribution sector, in particular, HVDC technology, our engineering division was engaged by ABB. They needed us to source highly-specialist engineers to work on and deliver 2 major, high-profile electrical transmission links:
The NordBalt project was a new HVDC light transmission system that linked electricity between Sweden and Lithuania. It’s the world’s longest HVDC extruded underground and subsea cable system.
The LitPol project involved ABB being awarded a contract to supply a complete turnkey back-to-back converter station for the LitPol power interconnection between Lithuania and Poland.
Our engineering division used their unique network of talent to source local teams of contract resource to deliver both 2-year projects.
The main challenge for ABB was to secure local individuals to Lithuania and Sweden who had extensive HVDC project experience.
We delivered multiple specialists with specific skills, including installation managers, commissioning managers, site managers, and commissioning engineers. All were locals with considerable expertise and knowledge within HVDC. As a result of finding the right people, both projects proved to be a success.
