Over 30 local business leaders attended an evening seminar in conjunction with the PMI on the 16th May at the CPS Offices in Cardiff.
The topic being…
"What is Agile Project Management? What makes it more than just a buzzword?"
Keith Richards of KRC talked the delegates through why Agile offers results that often seem elusive to Project Sponsors or Project Managers working with traditional project management methods.
Project Governance is about setting up a framework of accountability and ensuring that the Project Sponsor gets what he or she wants and ensures that all stakeholders on a project understand their roles and responsibilities. In essence, that the project objectives are achieved and any constraints met. However, this needs to work for any project large or small, collocated or distributed, IT or non-IT.
At the heart of using Agile in project environments lies the controls that are placed around the agile behaviours and working practices. The presentation looked at how to ensure that project management is ‘agile friendly’. The key is to know what is too much and what is too little. You may be surprised by some of the points made in this presentation. Sometimes less is more when it comes to control, whereas at other times it can lead to disaster!
